A rare large imperial Chinese blue and white 'dragon and carps' basin, Kangxi mark and of the period

Provenance: The collection of Dr. Oliver Impey (1936-2005), displayed in his historically important home Cumnor Place in Cumnor, Oxfordshire. He was Senior Curator in the Department of Eastern Art at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, and Reader in Eastern Art at Oxford University. He published several important works on Japanese porcelain, such as 'Japanese export porcelain: catalogue of the collection of the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford', 'Chinoiserie: the impact of Oriental styles on Western art and decoration', 'Treasures of Imperial Japan from the Nasser D. Khalili collection of Japanese art' (as co-author), and more.

- The rim slightly polished.
- Two restored breaks of ca. 5 cm and ca. 10 cm to the rim, one located around 7 o'clock position, and another around 5 o'clock position.
- A vertical crack to the middle of the basin, now professionally restored.
- A section missing of ca. 10 x 3 cm located between the 1 o'clock position and 2 o'clock position.
- The restoration is extremely professional; the repaired areas are invisible to the naked eye and under UV light, and can only be detected under strong direct light.

- 折沿洗口沿轻微磨口。
- 口沿有两處掉粘修復，尺寸约为 5 cm 和 10 cm，前者在 7 點鐘方向，後者在 5 點鐘方向。
- 折沿洗從中間裂開，後專業修復。
- 口沿約 1 點鐘至 2 點鐘位置，有一處缺失，尺寸約為 10 x 3 cm。
- 折沿洗的修復非常專業，肉眼和紫光下都無法檢驗其修復範圍，只有強光照射下，可見修復範圍。
