This panel of 16 tiles uses only two different tiles to create a wonderful and ingenious design with leaves, flowers and lines. A masterpiece by an unknown designer. This type of tile was used to cover the interior of large buildings and churches. Portuguese tiles in general are primitively made and therefore size, shape, color and thickness can vary, in general single tiles are about 14 x 14 cm. Some of the tiles are a little round. Backside of the tiles is cut at all 4 sides; this is usually the case with 17th century Portuguese tiles. Total size ca. 60 x 60 cm.
