H.: 37,5 cm
Provenance:
- A Belgian private collection.
- This fetish was originally given as a gift to a Belgian colonial officer named Rodolphe by a Congolese tribe. He brought it back to Belgium in 1928, and it has remained in his family’s possession ever since.
Included with the piece are photographs from Rodolphe's time in Africa. The handwritten notes on the back of the photos, dated between 1927 and 1928, offer personal insights and captions—likely recorded while he was stationed in the Congo or Central African region. Most of the images depict scenes from daily military life, including soldiers, local residents, buildings, and various activities.
