The dish depicts the arms of Pelgrom and are attributed to Jacob Pelgrom (1655-1713) who was a French Huguenot who fled to the Netherlands in 1688 and then on to the Dutch East Indies where he worked his way up the bureaucracy at the VOC eventually becoming Director of Begal by the time of his death.
