| Dim.: 91,5 cm x 91,5 cm This large tile mural was one of the focal points of the Harlinger Pottery museum. It is painted by Adam Sijbel, generally seen as one of the leading, if not the very best pottery painter of his time in Friesland. He worked at the Kingma workshop in Makkum, a city still famous today for its production of Dutch Delft pottery. The scene depicted combines two biblical stories, namely Luke 10:31 and Luke 10:33. 'As a priest and a Levite passed by, the Samaritan stopped to help the wounded, naked man lying on the ground.' Two etchings by Claude Augustin Duflos, depicting these exact scenes, served as inspiration for this interesting large tile panel.
