Indrukwekkende en zeldzame terrine in de vorm van een everzwijnskop, met bijhorende schotel, in Brussels aardewerk, 18e eeuw

An important and rare piece, this tureen was probably meant to hold boar pate. It is attributed to the "Fabrique de la Rue de Laeken" and dates back to the era of Philippe Mombaers and Jeanne Vanden Driessche, 2nd quarter of the 18th century. Sculpted with it's mouth somewhat open, the ears standing up straight, in a uniform brown glaze. The eyes, nose and tongue cold painted, the teeth and interior white-glazed. The dish of oval form, decorated with oak leaves and acorns all around, with a blue ribbon on each extremity. The dish in very good condition, minor rim abrasions and baking flaws. The lid in good condition, the tureen itselft with a hairline extending from the rim towards the center, the tongue with the extremity reglued. Size: The oval dish ca. 55 cm, the set standing 32 cm tall. Provenance: A private collection near Ghent, Belgium. Ref: Les Anciennes Faïences de Bruxelles, G.
