The globular body decorated with two panels of chinoiserie-inspired landscapes with figures, divided by a cracked ice blue ground of floral sprigs and flowers. The neck decorated with an ornamental scroll of flowers and leaves. The cover showing two panels of rocky landscapes, one with a dog, divided by a cracked ice blue ground of floral sprigs and flowers. One of the earliest examples of chinoiserie on Dutch Delftware, this jar was possibly ordered as a replacement for a missing or damaged part of a Chinese garniture set. The famous Hatcher cargo find of blue and white Ming and Transitional Chinese porcelain featured jars with panels divided by similar floral sprigs. Ca. 1620-1640. Condition: The vase itself with a clear restored break. The cover intact. Size: ca. 35 cm tall
