A previously unrecorded piece, naturalistically sculpted showing Bacchus seated on a barrel, holding grapes and vines in his hands. His head also covered with grapes and vines, his neck adorned with a necklace, the top pierced to serve as a fountain entry. The face-adorned barrel with a small opening which serves as a fountain exit. The base with a text "Dicke Jan op de toen, Smackt het Bier al tijt boen" (Fat John on the barrel, the beer always tastes good). The text written in a typical Brussels dialect, overall decorated in the typical mid-18th C. Brussels faience palette. Ca. 1750. One foot restored. Size: ca. 23 cm tall.
