Censers of this type have always been associated with Marco Polo, as it was a popular belief in the 19th century that they were brought to Venice by the explorer. 

Provenance:
- A Belgian private collection.
- Bonham's, London, Nov. 6, 2017, lot 147.
- The private collection of an English gentleman.

Condition report:
(UV-checked)
- The censer with a hairline extending from the top rim to the bottom and two handles missing from the side.
- The cover with a few of short hairline and some crazing glazes to the top. The inner rim with two small superficial chips.

- 香爐的口沿有一條衝線從口沿伸到底部,有兩隻耳朵缺失。
- 蓋子頂部有幾條短衝線,口沿有兩個小飛皮,局部釉面龜裂。
