A Dutch gilt-brass mounted pressed baleen casket, Herman Doomer, 17th C.

1046

Dim.: 23,5 x 13 x 14 cm

A total of three other examples have been recorded, crafted from the same moulds as this casket and marked 'HD' for Herman Doomer. The use of pressed baleen was limited to just a few decades in the early 17th century in Amsterdam, highlighting the brief yet innovative experimentation of Herman Doomer during the Dutch Golden Age.
