An impressive Japanese Samurai Gusoku armor, Momoyama and Edo period, late 16th / early 17th C.

Object description:
Japanese Samurai Gusoku (armor)
Azuchi-Momoyama until early Edo-Tokugawa period (1568-1625).
Consisting of a 5 plate Zu-Nari (Hinebo Kabuto) in brown and black Urushi lacquer with a 5 plate Shikoro (neck protection plates).
A wooden, lacquered and gilded Maedate from the 18th century and a Mempo (face mask) with a 3 plate Shikoro (throat protection).
The Kabuto and Mempo are from the same period as the armor.
The Ni-Mai-Dō (the single hinge type): named Mogami Do or Nuinobe Do by the Sugare Odoshi, horizontal iron slats with silk bindings. 6 Kusazuri (thigh protectors) with 4 lacquered iron plates. A set of a 5 plate Sode (shoulder protectors) with custom bindings. Set Kote (arm protectors) on side support with metal weave (Fusa-Susari) ending in metal hand protectors with gold ascent (Teko).
The Iyo Haidate (leg protectors): lacquered plates of leather in horizontal rows on a silk carrier. Set Shino Suneate (shin guards) with elongated metal protective plates (Shino).
The whole was completely, professionally restored in 2011 using original Japanese Urushi lacquer and colour-matches 1st quality silk bindings of Japanese origin.
