Falconry took place on important Dutch estates, such as Paleis Het Loo in Apeldoorn. Hunting herons by deploying falcons, hawks and sparrowhawks, was one of the favourite hobbies of the upper class in the 18th C. The Dutch estate, Paleis Het Loo in Apeldoorn, was made available for Dutch and British falconeers by the Dutch royals. This eventually evolved into the founding of the Royal Loo Hawking Club in the 19th C.
