A Vietnamese bronze wine warming bowl and cover, Han-Viet, 1st C. BC/3rd C.

This tripod is often mistakenly referred to as lian (liễn in Vietnamese), meaning a cosmetic box of similar shape. However, it is actually a vessel intended to heat wine, called 'jiuzun' by the Chinese. In the Han tombs of Lạch Trường or Đông Sơn, these containers are placed in the antechamber, next to the erbei wine cups, the hu vases and other objects intended for the presentation of the sacrificial dishes.
Cylindrical in shape, it has a domed lid, resting on three small bear-shaped feet and a decoration of strips in relief with two grips with rings.
