The Roman Terracotta Figurine of Venus – The Goddess of Love (centre)

This exquisite Roman terracotta figurine, dating to 100 AD - 200 AD, is an exceptionally fine example of ancient sculptural artistry.

Venus, the revered Goddess of Love, is depicted with an elaborate coiffure and adorned with a diadem in her hair, signifying her divine status. She wears intricately crafted earrings and two necklaces, one of which is designed in the form of a shell. This shell necklace elegantly falls onto her chest, symbolizing her mythological birth from the sea near Paphos in Cyprus, thereby unmistakably identifying her as Venus.

The figurine has been professionally restored from large fragments, with no loss of material, ensuring its historical integrity and visual completeness. It is securely mounted on a wooden plinth, providing both stability and an elegant presentation.

This sculpture not only showcases the artistic skill of its creators but also serves as a captivating representation of Roman mythology and cultural heritage.
